As we've said, The8r.com is all about sharing and community and giving back to the community. So why should we keep all the ad money to our greedy little selves? What sort of example is that? So here ya go. Creators of The8r.com content who wish to participate in our Google Adsense revenue sharing will receive 50% of any ad revenues their pages generate. If you or your theater organization already have an Adsense ID, type it into the field provided on your account page.
If you do NOT already have an Adsense ID, (Assuming you comply with Google's Adsense Program Policies and their Terms and Conditions.) (Full disclosure: The above application links contain a referral code which applies to the The8r.com account. Through this referral we receive a small one-time payment when (and if!) your revenues reach a certain amount. If you DON'T want to support The8r.com, you don't HAVE to, of course!)
If you refer another user who signs up for THE8R.COM's revenue sharing, you'll also receive another 10% of the revenues they generate. (Don't worry, the money is beaten out of US, not THEM!) So if you have a whole lotta friends, you could start your own mini-empire!
Of course, if you DON'T wish to participate, that's cool, too. Whatever makes you happy. Not participating means the The8r.com staff gets ALL the money, so after we're done cackling greedily maybe we'll work to make the site better 'n' better! We just don't want to make our BILLYUNS and BILLYUNS off of exploiting YOUR hard work and participation. We'd much rather ALL of us has an equal opportunity.
As for how much you'll make, well, that depends on a number of variables. You receive a varying amount of change--from a few cents to MAYBE (rarely!) a dollar, on average--every other time (remember, it's 50%!) someone clicks on an ad on one of your pages. The amount you receive depends on how much the advertiser has told Google they will pay for their ads, as well as how much the ad placement is worth (a high-traffic site with a gazillion hits is worth more than, say, Mojo's blog, which is only visited once a week by her mother, and only then because Mojo never calls). You may also receive some money for what are called "impressions"--usually a few cents per thousand times that ad shows up on your page. So to make money, you will need to create lots of great pages people will WANT to visit, and then get people to visit them! Volume, volume, volume, and quality, quality, quality. It's that simple.... and that hard!
Please bear in mind that Google takes "click fraud" VERY SERIOUSLY. The software is set up so that YOUR ads potentially creating revenue for YOUR account will automatically not show up if you are logged in under YOUR username (to prevent bogus impressions). If you purposefully click on your own ads, or massively and continuously click on other people's ads, the Google bots will (at best) not count the clicks or (at worst) cancel your account or (at VERY worst!) cancel the entire site's ability to receive and share revenue. So play nice and follow the rules!
